PMMAI workshop PLASTISHARE 2014 organised in Ahmedabad on 25th July, 2014

Plastics Machinery Manufacturers Association of India (PMMAI) took the first steps towards learning from each other's successes for collective progress. Within just two years of formation, the association organised an idea sharing workshop - PLASTI SHARE 2014 on July 25, 2014 in Ahmedabad, that also celebrated the successes accomplished by PMMAI over the past two years along with expanding its presence nationwide and earning recognition as representative of national Plastics Machinery Sector with DHI and DCPC.

PMMAI Plasti – Share 2014, was a unique workshop which covered topics like achieving operational excellence, understanding vendor expectations and various discussions to mutually benefit from one another. The workshop, with a motto of We SHARE, GROW & PROSPER, was attended by around 125 enthusiastic delegates. The delegates were mostly members of associations from all over the country and entrepreneurs related to plastics processing machinery sector. Delegates attending the workshop were CEO/Proprietors, Operational Heads, Purchase Heads and HR Heads.

The workshop was flagged off with a welcome note by PMMAI Chairman – Shri Mahendra N Patel, who also briefed the august gathering about PMMAI activities. Chairman informed the gathering about the sudden inability of Jt Sec of DHI- Shri RK Singh, to attend the workshop on account of some urgent parliamentary assignment. His speech along with DHI presentation was delivered by Shri N K Balgi, Director (Milacron India Pvt. Ltd.)

The workshop started with presentations & panel discussion on “Sharing of best practices in manufacturing” to achieve operational excellence in manufacturing. Shri Mahendra Patel was the session Chairman. Amongst the speakers were

Addressing the enthusiastic gathering, the speakers shared the varied practices adopted in their operations for all-round success in business through improving efficiency and people engagement. There was major emphasis on Team building, Healthy work environment and Quality measures to be adopted at work places to reduce down time and increase operational efficiency. The ensuing Discussions & Question Answer session updated the delegates with knowledge rich information.

In the post lunch session Dr Sarita Nagpal, Principal Advisor, CII, enlightened the gathering about various programs on cluster development and consultancy services available from CII to the manufacturing sector to increase operational efficiency.

The presentation by Col. IS Gahlaut, CEO, Capital Goods Skill Council, FICCI was on a program undertaken by DHI for developing skilled manpower for Capital Goods sector. He acknowledged contributions of PMMAI to CGSC activities as founding member of CGSC. He updated the gathering about the defining of occupational standards for various trades and importance of feedback from industry in finalising these standards.

Dr Pradeep Upadhyaya, Professor & Head – CIPET Ahmedabad, updated the house on CIPET activities and their newly launched Polymer Data Services.

Last Session was VOICE OF VENDORS. This was conducted by Shri Shirish Divgi as session Chairman and speakers from Vendors sector were:

  • Mr Mitin Patel – MD, Prima Automation (I) Pvt Ltd
  • Mr Ritesh Patel – Director, Heattrans Equipments Pvt Ltd
  • Mr Rakshit Parikh – Director, Automat Controls

Session aimed to understand, explore and identify the areas for OEM’s to work along with Vendors to develop a robust supply chain for producing products to global standards of Quality, Costs and Delivery.

The programme ended with a Vote of Thanks to the gathering by Shri T S Rajan, CEO, Windsor Machines Limited.
